Even if they are in the same format, audio files have different characteristics. As a result, you may need to increase or decrease the volume for individual tracks, because some of them are louder, while others can't be heard. If you are an iTunes user, you can use iVolume to set the same volume level for all songs. The procedure is straightforward and it can be performed even by the most inexperienced user.

The application integrates with iTunes, on Windows and Mac OS X operating systems and it is available for mobile platforms as well. It can be used on iPhones, iPads, on Apple TV, FrontRow and AirPlay. The application is not too demanding, in terms of system requirements. Furthermore, it is designed to take advantage of the latest multi-core processor technologies, so it will process your songs at an optimal speed.

When launched, iVolume will import your iTunes library automatically. The software can adjust the volume of your songs, according to the Replay Gain algorithm. Clicking a Start button, located in the upper left corner of the interface, is sufficient to start this process, but you can make a few manual adjustments as well.

Imported songs are listed in the largest area of the interface. If you select the manual adjustment option, located in a drop menu, above the list, you will be able to adjust the volume for individual songs. If you opt for the automatic adjustment, you can set a master volume, which will be applied on all songs. Additionally, you can set the application to adjust your songs separately or combine albums or groups. It is also possible to combine gapless albums, compilations and CD albums.

iVolume allows you to create groups, on the left side of the interface and populate them with songs, by dragging and dropping your tracks over a created group. Grouped songs can be fine tuned separately. All calculations and changes are saved automatically, so you don't have to re-analyze your songs each time you run the application.

Pros

iVolume can apply the same volume level to countless songs. You just need to click a button and the application will start processing your songs. The software is designed to take advantage of modern multi-core processors, so it will adjust your songs very fast.

Cons

There are no serious disadvantages to mention. While using iVolume, you will be able to listen to your music, without touching your computer or mobile device, to adjust the volume.
